We bought this box after looking at quite a few factors. Some of which were expandability and flexibility.
The HDFS offers A USB port in the front and the rear, allowing a USB2 Harddrive or Pen Drive to play movies, music, and photos. Along with the USB port, it offers a card reader right in the front to do the same. It may not be the nicest looking of all boxes (it’s nice enough for me) and it may not be the snazziest of interfaces, but it’s optional extras out stat the competition.
By adding a USB harddrive to the HDFS you can record TV as if it was a PVR.
We’re happy with Freesat and can’t justify a paid service since we get plenty to watch including loads of movies all week long.
I would say my only complaint about this box would be the recording scheduler, seems a little buggy, but hasn’t disappointed us yet. Secondly the updating of the schedule pops up ‘info not available’ for something starting that evening, when it’s supposed to have more than 5 days of info. I don’t know whether this is a problem with the box or Freesat itself, so I’ll leave that up to someone else to figure out.
