Krohn Late Bottled Vintage Port 2004

Never having heard of Krohn Port, or possibly never noticing it lurking around the Ferreira at the shops.  We picked this bottle up in Conwy, North Wales from a wine merchant on the high street.  According to the website it retails for anywhere between £10 and £15, I can’t remember what we paid, but it was within that range.  As with other LBVs this 2004 bottle has a wooden presentation box, so is great as a gift or to bring along to a party on the holidays.

We picked this up after a cold day running around at Betws-y-Coed, we had that holiday feeling, and mixed with the cold, we thought a nice glass of port would go down well when we get home.

This is a great Vintage Port at a great price.

Ferreira Late Bottled Vintage Port 1999

Arriving in a wooden box last Christmas, we opened this for New Years Eve 2009-2010.  Enjoying our yearly Xmas and New Years tradition of decanting a nice bottle of port and passing it around the table to your left, while never letting the decanter to rest until it’s empty, also not forgetting that you have to pour with your right and not switch hands at any point.

Drunken holiday traditions aside, this is the kind of port that always makes me salivate, ruby red, with a nice dry, sweet, oaky finish.  If anyone ever wants to know what to bring for the holidays, bring one of these… the older the better.
